Here’s a bit of color with which to end the year: the final map of the 421-a exclusion zone, as approved by the City Council last week and by the Mayor on Thursday. (Click to enlarge.)
The current boundaries are in grey; the expansion of the exclusion zone (subject to state legislative approval) is in orange. The grey and green hatchings designate the city’s poorest neighborhoods, while the blue blotches show areas where previously developers would enjoy extra-long tax breaks but which will also be eliminated.
