James McGettigan kicked off his campaign for Atlantic County Executive today with a promise to "literally change the way the county does business" and enact strict ethical standards in county government.
McGettigan, the Atlantic County Sheriff, is challenging two-term Republican Dennis Levinson.
"Once and for all, we will rid the county of the bossism, intimidation-style politics and blatant cronyism that have driven up the cost of county government and shut out ordinary citizens," McGettigan said. "That kind of old style politics has led to spendthrift government and stymied progress on pressing problems."
McGettigan, who has been Sheriff since 1993, will run with Freeholder candidates Joseph Kelly, Jill Foley and Charles Garrett.
