All in the family

If they were to win their respective longshot races, Republicans Anthony Pio Costa and his son, Carmen Pio Costa, would become the first father-son legislators to serve in the same house at the same time. Anthony Pio Costa is running in the 26th district (where the mega-millionaire developer seems intent on taking out Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce), and his son is the lone Republican candidate in the 36th district, against Democratic incumbents Fred Scalera and Gary Schaer.

Father's Day is currently celebrated in two districts: the ninth, which elects State Senator Leonard Connors and his son, Assemblyman Christopher Connors; and the 24th, which is represented by State Senator Robert Littell and his daughter, Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose. The two Senators are not seeking re-election.

From 1974 to 1982, the Legislature had a team of brothers representing the same district: Democrat Carmen Orechio was a State Senator and Republican Carl Orechio served in the State Assembly. All in the family
