Democrats in the 14th district are still sorting out the selection of an Assembly candidate to run for Bill Baroni's open seat, with former Hamilton Council President Daniel Benson, former Hamilton Councilman Wayne D'Angelo, labor leader Michael Maloney, Mercer County Democratic Chairman Richard McClellan and John Cimino, the son of former Assemblyman Anthony "Skip" Cimino, competing for the nomination. Former Hamilton school board member John Stevenson and former Hamilton Library Trustee Joseph Leist, who had been considered for the nod before Baroni decided to run for Peter Inverso's State Senate seat, are no longer under consideration.

Don't expect any announcements today or tomorrow, Democratic insiders say.
