There will be no Democratic Primary for two Assembly seats in district 4, according to Gloucester County Democratic Party Chairman Michael Angelini.

Independent Democrat John Caramanna is no longer in the primary race with incumbent Assemblyman Paul Moriarty of Washington Township and Sandra Love of Gloucester Township, the two organization-endorsed candidates.

In the aftermath of the filing deadline earlier this month, on Angelini’s orders, the county committee filed a challenge of Caramanna's primary petition with the state Office of Administrative Law. Late last week, a judge indicated the candidate would not be permitted to continue.

“When he filed against the endorsed ticket, he did not have the requisite signatures pursuant to law,” Angelini said.

The chairman said Caramanna had submitted a signed petition that contained names of people who were either not registered voters or who did not reside in district 4.

Love, the former Mayor of Gloucester Townshi, is seeking the seat of retiring two-term Democrat David Mayer.
