In Bergen County, State Sen. Loretta Weinberg is running off the line in her bid for a second term against the candidate of the Bergen County Democratic Organization, Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes. The GOP candidate is Clara Nibot.
In the 40th district, where incumbent Henry McNamara is retiring, three Republicans are competing to succeed him: Assemblyman Kevin O'Toole, former Bergen County Freeholder Todd Caliguire, and Wayne attorney Victor Rabbit. John Zunic is unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
In the 9th district, James LeTellier, a police lieutenant and former Lacey Council candidate, faces Pine Beach Mayor Russ Corby in the Democratic primary.
LeTellier Corby has the support of the Ocean County Democratic organization. Assemblyman Christopher Connors is unopposed for the GOP primary for the Senate seat his father is vacating after 26 years.
Two Republicans are seeking to challenge two-term Democratic State Sen. Barbara Buono in the 18th district: Daniel Brown, who has the backing of the Middlesex County GOP, and conservative Andrew Tidd.
Two incumbent Senators have no general election opposition at this time: Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance and 30-year veteran John Girgenti.
