U.S. Attorney Chris Christie was on a Novembr 1, 2006 list of U.S. Attorneys recommended by the Department of Justice to be fired according to a front page story in today's Washington Post. Christie contends he does not know how he became listed or how he was taken off the list. Eight U.S. Attorneys were ultimately fired by Atttorney General Alberto Gonzalez a little over one month after that list was compiled and Christie was not one of them.
"I was completely shocked. No one had ever told me that my performance had been anything but good," Christie told the Post. "I specifically asked him why he put my name on the list. He said he couldn't give me an explanation."
