Democrats won a crucial local race in Evesham tonight, defeating a longtime GOP Mayor and winning control of the Council.

Democrats won a crucial local race in Evesham tonight, defeating a longtime GOP Mayor and winning control of the Council. Randy Brown, a former NFL Assistant Coach, defeated Mayor Gus Tamburro, 51.5%-48.3%.

Councilwoman Bonnie Olt and runnng mate Cliff Rickards — running with Tamburro — were defeated by Chris Brown and John McKenna.

Brown, who managed Tamburro's re-election campaign four years ago, won 3,690 to 3,463. The Council candidates won by an even larger margin.

"A big win and a clean sweep for Democrats," said Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan. "We had the best candidates who are on the right side of the issues but it was hard working Democrats who converted those advantages into victory."
