Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance will serve as Co-Chairman an exploratory committee for Michael Doherty's campaign for the 2008 GOP U.S. Senate nomination.
Doherty, a three-term Assemblyman from Warren County, has been mulling a bid to challenge incumbent Frank Lautenberg. One of the state's most conservative legislators, he shares a district with Lance, a moderate and the highest-ranking Republican in state politics.
Other possible GOP candidates include former New Jersey Chamber of Commerce President Anne Evans Estabrook and Assemblyman Joseph Pennacchio.
