Kite for your right! All of you out there in the ho-ho-ho-Hamptons: Before you gas up the S.U.V. and run over the little people this weekend, there’s “Kites for a Cure,” hosted by Joan’s Legacy: the Joan Scarangello Foundation to Conquer Lung Cancer. More than 400 families are expected to participate and draw pictures, messages and “wishes” on their kites before sending them up to the skies …. Why do we feel like this could end up the stuff of epic disaster? At least it’s preferable to that scary-ass ad starring the guy with the hole in his throat. More out in Southampton … the Good Conscience Gallery 848 and Renewable Energy Long Island throw an opening group show, Landscapes 2007, with new works in oils by such artists as Chris Nissen and Tracy Barker-White. Expect a crowd eager to show off their new gauzy dresses and ballet flats, and artists to grumble about the good old “Jackson Pollock days” of the Hamptons, when everyone was drunk for their art instead of just artfully drunk ….
