7:30 a.m. Supporters will rally in front of the closed St. Brigid's Church in the East Village to mark the one-year anniversary of its ordered destruction at the corner of Avenue B and 8th Street.

10 a.m. NBA's Darryl Dawkins will conduct a basketball clinic in Harlem to encourage activity and good eating habits at the Harlem YMCA, 181 West 135th Street.

11 a.m. Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe and local officials will join surfers to celebrate the opening of a second surfing beach at the Rockaways in Queens at Beach 67-69, Rockaway Beach in Queens.

Noon. Council member Leroy Comrie will host a street re-naming ceremony in honor of the late businessman and community activist Freddie Dill Sr., who was best known as the proprietor of Poor Freddie’s Tire Center.

1 p.m. The state Assembly Committee on Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions, chaired by Assemblyman Richard L. Brodsky, will convene for a Public Hearing on the policies, planning and finances of the MTA, and the possibility of a fare increase at 250 Broadway.
