11 a.m. Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest festivities continue for the third day in a row, this time with a press conference featuring yesterday’s winner, Joey Chestnut, and the injured Takeru Kobayashi at Major League Eating headquarters, 151 W. 25th Street.

6:30 p.m. The Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation announces the award of a grant at El Museo del Barrio, 1230 Fifth Avenue.

7:30 p.m. “The Bronx is Burning” premieres at Tribeca Cinemas, 54 Varick Street.

Rudy Giuliani campaigns in Florida, visiting a plastics company in the afternoon.

Hillary Clinton campaigns in Iowa at a barbecue and a “pie and coffee” event while Barack Obama speaks at a festival celebrating black music and culture taking place at the Louisiana Superdome, one day before Clinton travels to New Orleans to speak at the same event.
