The Middlesex County Central Labor Council has endorsed Democrat Seema Singh for State Senate in the 14th district, bucking the tide of union endorsements for the GOP candidate, Assemblyman Bill Baroni. The Middlesex CLC had 17,000 members in public and private sector unions.
“The Middlesex County Central Labor Council voted to endorse Seema Singh for her work on behalf of working people throughout the state of New Jersey,” said Joseph Jennings, the Middlesex County CLC President, who noted that their backing of Singh stems from her efforts to challenge the PSE&G/Exelon merger while serving as state Ratepayer Advocate.
Baroni has won the backing of most labor unions, including the New Jersey AFL-CIO and several CWA locals.
