Abate gets 51 months in federal prison

Former Western Monmouth Utilities Authority executive director Frank G. Abate was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison today for taking thousands of dollars in free architectural services paid for by developers with applications pending before the WMUA, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Abate, a Democrat, lost a 1992 bid for Congress to GOP incumbent Richard Zimmer.
