7:45 a.m. The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corp. will host a leadership forum featuring Comptroller William Thompson Jr. at 555 Bergen Avenue between 149th Street and Westchester Avenue in the Bronx.

9:30 a.m. The National Alliance for Hispanic Health and the Hispanic Federation will announce the 2007 Summer Heart Health Campaign and host a public cholesterol screening event at the Milstein Building of the New York Presbyterian Hospital, 77 Fort Washington Avenue between 165th and 168th streets.

11 a.m. The Hudson Institute, a nonpartisan policy research organization dedicated to promoting global security, prosperity, and freedom, will host White House Press Secretary Tony Snow for a major policy address on the War in Iraq at Union League Club, 38 East 37th Street between Madison and Park avenues.

Noon. The Morris Heights Health Center, Inc. will announce a building project called Harrison Circle with a kickoff demolition of the old existing buildings and excavation of the site for the new Harrison Circle facility, at the Morris Heights Health Center, 85 West Burnside Avenue, in the Bronx.

1 p.m. Council member James F. Gennaro will announce legislation to ban smoking in cars that carry children under age 18 on the City Hall steps.

1 p.m. Council member John Liu will present the highlights of community service projects completed this summer at City Hall.

7 p.m. Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, will speak at the New York Young Republican Club’s monthly meeting at the Union League Club, 38 East 37th Street.
