Bored in Brooklyn? It’s Labor Day weekend: time of last-ditch attempts to look good in white pants, super-annoying destination weddings, and t-r-a-f-f-i-c. Back in the safe confines of Brooklyn, smug and horny Park Slope moms send their nannies and offspring to an exhibition called Infinite Island: Contemporary Caribbean Art, which is opening at the Brooklyn Museum. Curator Tumelo Mosako strongly urged visitors to check out Hew Locke’s El Dorado, a fourteen-feet-tall bust of Queen Elizabeth made entirely out of “found objects.” Neat! Mr. Mosaka also praised the video piece Under Discussion, an exploration of a U.S. bombing range on Puerto Rico’s Vieques Island by the U.S., by collaborators Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla: She is American, he is Cuban and they live in Puerto Rico. Caliente!
