Happy Labor Day! Today’s the day when you open your gigantic storage containers—purchased on sale from Hold Everything—and find, to your despair, that moths have devoured the better part of your winter wardrobe. Good times! But don’t pack away those bathing suits just yet—it’s the last chance to plunge into the Floating Pool at Brooklyn Bridge Park Beach, or any of the city’s other 14 (!) miles of beach, with all the other doofuses. If you’re the spectator-sportif type, get on the 7 train for a little U.S. Open action; despite all the hype about Croat this and Serbian that, our money’s still on the Swiss Roger “I play very amazing” Federer—doesn’t it always look as though he just put away his glow sticks from the discotheque?—and either Williams sister on the ladies’ side. Later, drop a couple of tabs of acid and head to Webster Hall, where Philly’s psychedelic rock quintet Dr. Dog is opening for 80’s alternative stalwarts Dinosaur Jr.
