Pony it up, suckers: The horsey Hampton Classic kicks off today—no, dears, this isn’t polo, but blockbuster events such as the “$25,000 Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby” and the “$10,000 Hermès Hunter Classic.” And they demand blockbuster handbags! When you’ve had your fill of scotch and suspiciously plump lips, head down the road to the decidedly lower-octane Strides for Life fun run/walk (huff, puff) in Southampton, benefiting the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Your honorary chair: Nancy Grace, who hosts that vaguely unethical-seeming crime show on CNN! Ms. Grace won’t be running or walking, however, because “she’s actually pregnant—and I also believe she has a broken foot!” shared Laurie Carson, president and founder of the LCRF. But, Ms. Carson continued, “Nancy is a fabulous motivator who keeps everybody on their toes. She’s wvery good at the finish line.” Another blindingly blond presence will be the socialite designer Tory Burch, who has been enjoined to provide “special treat” for the goody bags (uh-oh) and, we’re told, will be running, walking, trotting, whatevs. No word yet on whether her bicyclist boy-toy Lance Armstrong, running partner of bongo-drum-beating and bong-hitting actor Matthew McConaughey, will be joining her for the jaunt. “That’s all anybody wants to know!” Ms. Carson exclaimed. “Tory is registered for one. But maybe he’ll be a surprise guest.”
