Fabiola’s frolic: Vroom-vroom! Time for one of our very favorite wackadoo head-scratching events: the Cartier Hamptons “Princess” Race, during which a bunch of impeccably groomed and somewhat famous ladies—socialite/Valentino rep Annelise Peterson, Fabiola Beracasa, actress Molly Sims, Stella Schnabel, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, and (hey now!) last year’s America’s Next Top Model winner, CariDee English—navigate fancy cars through a course that involves “challenges” like golf, kayaking, jet skiing, waterskiing and surfing through Southampton, East Hampton, Montauk and Shelter Island. Now that sounds challenging, indeed! What this mysteriously benefits: a charity called Innocence in Danger that aids abused children. Back on our humble island, the Public Theater, which has been previewing A Midsummer Night’s Dream for what feels like months now, finally sucks up the courage to officially present the all-time-best outside-in-Central-Park play one could hope to see. It stars attractively awkward Martha Plimpton, Keith David, Laila Robins and Jay O. Sanders. But bring bug spray!
