Unrealistic scenario, just for fun

If politics in Washington, D.C. was more like New Jersey, then U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman would be the next U.S. Attorney General. George W. Bush would get credit for appointing an easily-confirmed Democrat to replace the embattled Alberto Gonzales, and Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell would appoint a Republican to fill Lieberman’s seat. That would give the GOP majority control of the United States Senate — and possibly give Rell’s political consultant, Larry Weitzner, another statewide race in 2008, besides Anne Evans Estabrook.
