In Mercer County, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 73, which represents more than 11,000 public-sector employees throughout central New Jersey, announced their endorsements in this year’s elections.

In the 14th district, the union declared it’s support for Bill Baroni for Senate, and Linda Greenstein and Wayne DeAngelo for Assembly.

In the 15th district, Senator Shirley Turner, Assemblyman Reed Gusciora and Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson-Coleman were endorsed for re-election.

Council 73 endorsed the re-election bids of County Executive Brian Hughes, Freeholders Anthony Carabelli and Keith Hamilton in the Mercer County races.

In the municipal race in Hamilton the union announced its support for Glen Gilmore for mayor, and Kevin Meara and John Kroschwitz for township council.

"These candidates received our endorsement based on their willingness to address the concerns of the citizens we represent who do the work necessary to keep the communities throughout our state operating on a daily basis" stated Gerard J. Meara, Executive Director of Council 73.
