Up to Our Knee Socks in September! And none of you cows knows how to dress! Out on the streets there are still ladies “rocking” sundresses and gladiator sandals (which look good on absolutely no one). Then there are the Fall Previewers, gamely ignoring the thermometer in corduroy and patent leather. The hunt for the transitional shoe continues tonight at a premiere of the new film Trade, about international sex trafficking of women and children, after which we’re sure everyone will have plenty of appetite for a gala dinner organized by Roadside Attractions, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Equality Now. Burp! On the committee: actors Kevin Kline (star of the film—but will he bring his gorgeous wife, Phoebe, who gave up her career to become a hausfrau with a passel of kids and a boutique?), Meryl Streep (or “Sterile Meep” as we like to call her), Hilary Swank, Sigourney Weaver, Sam Waterston, Stanley Tucci, Candice Bergen, I-do feminist Gloria Steinem and struggling single mom Britney Spears. (Just kidding about Britney, sorry!) Meanwhile, on the West Side, you can see distinguished director and thinking woman’s sex object Robert Benton (Kramer vs. Kramer) presenting his new film, Feast of Love staring Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear, about a coffee shop in Oregon or something.
