Gov. Jon S. Corzine will be appoint a Republican member to the Election Law Enforcement Commission on an interim basis in the next few days, according to Lilo Stainton, his spokeswoman.
Corzine will officially nominate a new member when the Senate reconvenes during the lame duck session. Stainton said she does not know who the person will be.
ELEC is supposed to have equal party representation, but currently has a 2-1 Democratic majority. The second Republican Commissioner, former Superior Court Judge Theodore Davis, resigned last month to become the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Camden.
