Mercer County Democratic Chairman Richard McClellan issued a one-word response to suggestions that Seema Singh, who is the target of a state ethics investigation, drop her bid for State Senator in the 14th district:

"Nuts," McClellan said.

Richard Merkt, a GOP Assemblyman from Morris County, called for Singh to drop out last Friday following a Trenton Times story alleging that Singh may have broken state laws by allowing her Chief of Staff to collect her pension while still working. Merkt is a close friend of the Republican Senate candidate, Assemblyman Bill Baroni. Polls from both parties have Baroni running way ahead of Singh, the former state Ratepayer Counsel. Nuts!
