A quick glance at some of the numbers in the 7th

The 7this a Republican-leaning congressional district that Assemblywoman Linda Stender lost by one percentage point in the 2006 election when she challenged U.S. Rep. Mike Ferguson.

Of a total 348,331 registered voters in the district, 80,907 are Republicans,69,873 are Democrats, and 197,551 are Independents.

Of the portions of four counties within the district – Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset and Union -Hunterdonand Middlesex balance each other outasRepublicans outnumber Democrats in the former, 21,863-6,332 and Democrats outnumber Republicans in the latter, 22,458-7,460.

Republicans also have a 2-1 edge in Somerset: 24,666-12,797.

That leaves Union County as the battleground, where Democrats have a slight edge: 28,286-26,918.

Looking again at the total number of registered voters in the 7th district, women outnumber men by almost seven percent, with the largest percentage of voters aged between 45-59. A quick glance at some of the numbers in the 7th
