Maybe this will make Governor Jon Corzine feel a little better: New Jerseyans like him more than New Yorkers like Pope Benedict XVI. A new Quinnipiac University poll of New York City voters has the Pope at a 36%-24% approval rating, while a recent Q'pac poll of New Jerseyans has Corzine's approvals at 49%-40%. So if New Jerseyans are at all similar to New Yorkers in their attitudes toward the Pope, that means Corzine could take His Holiness in the 2009 General Election — assuming, of course, that a Poritzless court would allow him on the ballot.
