Homme frite! Recently there’s been a rush of wackadoos disrobing in Times Square and freaking out the locals. Today, Herald Square is overrun by buff boys trotting around as part of a search for “five real men” (In this town? Good luck, honey!) who “embody the “Calvin Klein MAN—Sexy, Stylish, Sophisticated.” Whoever is chosen will pop up—boing!—in GQ. Over at Hiro Ballroom in the basement of the Maritime Hotel (Are we the only ones that get deeply nervous at the lack of windows?), there’s Rational Animal’s “Gimmie SHELTER: Rock & Rescue NYC 2007.” Oh, boy! This is a charity concert that benefits the local rescue groups; the evening will be emceed by Chi Chi Valenti with Adrock from the Beastie Boys (synergy!) and glamazon Kristen Johnson (3rd Rock). Do it for the kitties!! And, if it’s emo boys with big limpid eyes, moist palms and slightly hairy shoulders, get thee to the Bowery Ballroom where Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (sigh) play a sold-out show and laugh all the way to the bank.
