The title for Most Expensive Co-op Deal in New York History has been usurped from wrinkly Australian Rupert Murdoch, who paid $44 million two years ago for his penthouse triplex (with gym) at 834 Fifth Avenue.

Here’s a morsel from The Observer‘s interview with the lucky seller: “Well, I feel nostalgic, because my kids grew up here. But it’s not a bad feeling to have it sell at a good price. I have bought another duplex penthouse with a great view, so I’m not that unhappy.”
