11 a.m. Councilmembers David Yassky and Eric Gioia call on the city to save Water Taxi East River service, which is shutting down Jan. 1 to May 1 due to insufficient revenue. At the New York Water Taxi terminal at Schaefer Landing, Kent Avenue at South 10th St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

12 p.m. The American Museum of Natural History celebrates Kwanzaa with traditional African dance, word and drumming in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life.

6 p.m. Treatment Action Group’s benefit honoring individuals who have made a significant impact in A.I.D.S. research and activism. Scheduled guests include Council Speaker Christine Quinn. AT The Drawing Center, 35 Wooster St. between Grand and Broome.
