Get ready to “Max Out for Melinda.”
That’s the subject line of an email invitation to a fund-raiser for Melinda Katz’s city comptroller campaign, which a reader forwarded to me. It’s taking place on January 10 at the Manhattan office of Howard Milstein, a major real estate developer.

Subject: ‘Max Out for Melinda’ reception at Howard Milstein’s office on 1-10-08
Thank you again for your consideration of my campaign to become the 43rd Comptroller of New York City. As you can see from the list of great New Yorkers who have joined the Finance Committee and have committed to raise up to $100,000 per year, the campaign is off to a tremendous start. They believe my experience in the private sector (five years as an M&A attorney for one of New York’s top law firms Weil, Gotshal) and the public sector (being one of the longest serving elected officials in New York City as a former State Assemblywoman and current Chair of the Land Use Committee in the New York City Council) puts me in the unique position to maintain the consistency in government New Yorkers are looking for in their next Comptroller. This is the reason some of the largest unions (RWDSU, UFCW, Mason Tenders District Council, Plumbers Local 1, along with Local 338 and Local 1500) as well as Congresswoman Yvette Clarke have already endorsed my campaign to become the next Comptroller of New York City.
Howard Milstein (and the rest of the Finance Committee – see below) has agreed to host a “Max Out for Melinda” reception at his office in NYC on January 10, 2008 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. This will be a fun event for everyone who has already donated and those who wish to donate the maximum $4,950 per person. Please let me know if you are able to attend.
I look forward to seeing you on January 10th in 2008! Happy New Year!
