Stuff your stockings, ladies! Just 13 days until drunk-on-hot-toddy families rip through half a rainforest’s worth of paper and cardboard to discover things they neither want nor need while those not of the Christian faith get to go to the movies. But first! The city’s superrich land their private planes (whooosh!) at Teterboro and contemplate where to put that new Terrence Koh sculpture made of eggplant they bought for $10 million at Art Basel, the rest of us roll over and press snooze and editorial assistants everywhere apply red lipstick (smack!) and plot to seduce that nerdy yet somehow hot senior editor at the holiday party. Take your penicillin, because today is unofficially the most popular day for media companies to hang the mistletoe. Condé Nast Traveler unpacks at brand-new Dell’Anima, while Details dispels any remaining suspicion about its target demographic by decamping to B Bar (the last time we went there, there was no ladies room). The peppy staffers at SELF double-dose themselves on Wellbutrin, write some manic cover lines, then go bowling (crash, bang! zoom!) at Chelsea Piers, while Domino, the only magazine that could ever convince us we desperately need a $100 red Moroccan teapot, stages an appropriately demure BYOO (Bring Your Own Ornament—charming!) gathering at editor at large Tom Delevan’s West Village apartment. Hope it wasn’t the maid’s day off! Meanwhile, in charity news, did you know the European royals are now branching out into clothing design? Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece owns a kiddie boutique on Madison, where tonight shoppers like Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Nina Davidson and Nina Shapiro gather to buy baby clothes more expensive than our grown-up clothes, all for the benefit of Baby Buggy. … Hmm, sounds familiar, could it be? Oh yes, Jessica Seinfeld’s charity! And remember that reading series at the Lower East Side den of iniquity Happy Ending? Novelists Daphne Beal and Calvin Baker edify the baked masses. And we are just kicking ourselves for missing the Clinton Foundation’s holiday cocktail party at the Russian Tea Room last Friday. We imagine the former President enjoyed the blintzes—and the food! (Bill, did our handshake in 1997 mean nothing to you?)
