As we say hello to 2008, we’d like to bring your attention to something so nutty it can’t help but banish any post-New Year’s Eve malaise. For is there any better way to rouse one’s spirits than by watching a video of dogs soaring through the air in slow motion — set to a bone-rattling techno beat?
Birds is the video is for the song “Poney, Pt.1” by the electronic artist Vitalic, and it is the handiwork of Parisian artist collective Pleix. It features dogs of many breeds — a woebegone-looking beagle, a leaping poodle, an agile chihuahua — all hurtling through a neon-lit set that looks like it was resurrected from 1981. The video is totally odd but somehow utterly mesmerizing. Happy New Year!
