The Obama campaign held a conference call this morning to announce a “South Carolina Truth Squad,” with which they will rebut what Tom Daschle called “the incredible distortions that are coming from the Clinton campaign.”
Daschle claimed that Hillary Clinton robocalls say Barack Obama would call for the dismantling of the minimum wage.
He also described Bill Clinton’s campaign behavior as “not in keeping with the image of a former President.”
Positioning Obama as a victim of dirty politics should play well in South Carolina, a place with plenty of distrust of the federal government.
The Obama campaign has set up a hotline to gather information on mailers and robocalls and to answer voter questions.
An Obama spokesperson was asked if they would respond with aggressive robocalls and direct mailers to hit Clinton; he did not say yes or no.
