Ron Paul wins conservative straw poll

Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul stampeded the Forge in Woodbridge this morning and gave their candidate a blow-out victory in a straw poll conducted by the right wing New Jersey bloggers' aggregate, Conservatives with Attitude (CWA).

Michaal Illions, a candidate for U.S. Congress in the 7th district, read the results of 207 participants.

Paul garnered 126 votes; former Sen. Fred Thompson received 27 votes; former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney received 22; former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 15; former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, 11; U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, 4; and Sen. John McCain, 2.

There were three or four more late votes tallied after Illions' initial reading that were scattered among the candidates and didn't alter the standings.
