Democrat Robert Menendez, now in his third year as a United States Senator from New Jersey, has a 37%-25% approval rating among New Jersey voters, according to a new Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll released today. Menendez is at 49%-13% among Democrats, 32%-30% among Independents, and upside down among Republicans, 29%-41%. He is at 36%-32% among men, 38%-19% among women, and at 43%-23% among older voters. Menendez does not face re-election until 2012.
U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, a Democrat and the state’s senior senator, is at 43%-28%. New Jersey’s third Democratic statewide elected official, Gov. Jon Corzine, was upside down among state voters: 40% approve, 44% disapprove.
