Will someone please tell our addled and Adderall-ed sisters out there in Gotham-land that a light morning drizzle does not necessitate an entire day spent traipsing around in knee-high, pink striped rubber wellies? Ladies, we’re starting to look like the world’s oldest, most meticulously blown-out kindergarten class. And speaking of stripes: social hyphenate Gillian Hearst-Simonds—married sister of Lydia, daughter of Patricia; we know, the rich are confusing—hosts a soiree at the Rugby Ralph Lauren store for Tom Dolby, whose new novel, The Sixth Form, is about a boy’s senior year (ahem, sixth form; the rich have their own language, too!) at a prep school in Massachusetts. Bonus (WASP-style) dirty excerpt! “Before he met Todd, in those first few weeks at Berkley Academy, Ethan Whitley sought refuge in the cool calm of the art studios, amidst the smells of dried paint and eraser shavings.”
