Add another name to the list of potential late entrants into the race for the Republican nomination for United States Senator: John Crowley, the President and CEO of Amicus Therapeutics, a North Brunswick-based biopharmaceutical company. There is some buzz among Republicans that Crowley has some interest in challenging Frank Lautenberg.
Crowley’s involvement with biotechnology stems from the 1998 diagnosis of two of his children with Pompe disease – a fatal neuromuscular disorder.
An active officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, Crowley is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, has a law degree from Notre Dame, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He’s worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb and for several other pharmaceutical industry companies.
