STAT OF THE DAY: Eire Exits

St. Patrick’s Day is Monday (though the official Archdiocese of New York celebration is today–it’s complicated), and there are fewer Irish-American New Yorkers to mark it than there used to be. In 2000, there were an estimated 420,810 New Yorkers of Irish descent, according to the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. By 2006, there were an estimated 415,287.
