Ron Paul’s guy might be right — the election isn’t really over yet

A Ron Paul supporter from Hawthorne is complaining that local officials forced him to remove a campaign sign from his lawn because a municipal ordinance requires signs to be taken down within seven days of the election. But one election law expert thinks Hawthorne has this wrong. While the New Jersey Republican presidential primary was held on February 5, the election isn’t actually over.

GOP voters will vote in the June primary for delegate to the national convention. Paul supporters say they will run their own slate, even though they would be bound to support John McCain on the first three ballots if they do win. And technically, there won’t be a nominee until the Republican National Convention in September.
