Bloomberg schticks it up! The Inner Circle of City Hall Journalists performs its annual spoof on city politics, this year titled “Young Mikenstein,” after our esteemed mayor. Mary Murphy, an anchor at CW11 News at Ten and this clever group’s president, told us “the Inner Circle began in 1922. Women weren’t allowed until the early 70’s.” This year’s show is about the frightening prospect of our mayor forsaking us due to political ambition or term limits. “We came up with the idea that no one was good enough [to replace him],” explained Ms. Murphy. “So his team wanted to create a monster mayor. So Michael Bloomberg was going to donate his brain because he’s so smart, but then that got stolen. … We have Roger Clemens as a character singing a song from Damn Yankees—hmmm, you follow?—“we have Christine Quinn dressed up as a Knicks City Dancer and she’s singing ‘Rehab’ by Amy Winehouse. … I’m playing Hillary this year. It was a little bit nerve-wracking because we were concerned if she didn’t win in Texas and Ohio, we’d have to change the concept for our song. I personally was thrilled that she was still in the race, only for the show purposes.”
