Is Sacks fulla nuts? No siree! Dr. Oliver Sacks, neurologist, Columbia professor, author of brainy popular books and New Yorker articles and a Brit to boot—that sound you hear is us slamming shut the computer and giving up—appears at an aphasia benefit (the loss of the ability to comprehend language) to tell stories from his latest tome: Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain. Songwriter Marc Black will entertain the audience with a neurological-themed performance inspired by poetry written by an aphasia patient. Why is this starting to feel like the Democratic Primary?

[Oliver Sacks at the National Aphasia Association Benefit, Comix, 353 West 14th Street, 6 p.m., 1-800-922-4622]
