One of Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero’s top political lieutenants has endorsed Rob Andrews for U.S. Senate in the June 3 Democratic primary. Paul Sarlo, a State Senator who represents parts of Bergen, Essex and Passaic counties, becomes the sixth State Senator from North Jersey to formally back Andrews against incumbent Frank Lautenberg.

“The New Jersey Democratic Party is fortunate to have a deep and talented bench; it is time for that bench to be utilized,” said Sarlo, who is also the Mayor of Wood-Ridge. “Rob’s record as a fiscally conservative, socially moderate Democrat is in line with the values of the majority of New Jersey voters. I respect and commend Senator Lautenberg for his years of distinguished service to our state and nation. However, I fervently believe that generational change is needed and that Rob Andrews best represents that change.”
