Still Drafting Bloomberg

Despite Michael Bloomberg’s unsubtle hints, there are some people still trying to put him on the ballot for the 2008 presidential election.

Like Gail Parker, one of the drafters in Virginia who reportedly handed in 10,271 signatures to her state Board of Elections.

According to an email I got from Parker, they’re less interested in Bloomberg as the technocratic, nonpartisan mayor, and more into Bloomberg as a recognizable name for their one-issue agenda.

Here’s what she wrote back:

Mr Paybarah:
Yes. We did hand in over 10,000 signatures to get Mike on the ballot in Virginia for US President. We need a Rail champion to take this issue nationwide. Michael Bloomberg could do that.

We need more Rail candidates on the ballot nationwide. We encourage your readers to join us: to get on the ballot and advocate for high-speed Rail nationwide, for cleaner air and cleaner water.
