Chris Matthews would have hosted Lautenberg/Andrews debate

MSNBC personality Chris Matthews was tapped to host a debate between Democratic Senate candidates Frank Lautenberg and Rob Andrews, but it was not to be, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The debate would have been sponsored by the Inquirer and NBC’s Philadelphia affiliate, and would have taken place on the eve of the June 3rd primary.

Andrews accepted, but Lautenberg rejected the offer.

Andrews and Lautenberg will participate in two debates: a radio debate Thursday night on 101.5 fm, and a televised debate on NJN next Friday at 8:00 p.m.
