It seems like it just turned 100 … The Brooklyn Bridge has survived horse-drawn carriages, trolleys, six lanes of automobiles, suicide attempts, rumored Al Qaeda plots and throngs of tourists seeking pizza—and now, having achieved the ripe old age of 125, there will be a four-day birthday celebration involving fireworks, a “bridge lighting” (uh-oh) and an outdoor film series featuring gems such as Panorama From the Tower of the Brooklyn Bridge (1903), Frank Sinatra vehicle It Happened in Brooklyn (1947) and, inexplicably, Enchanted, the half-animated, princess-themed recent disaster starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, which is currently being shown on cross-country Delta flights.
