The Jersey Journal has endorsed outsiders in three contested Democratic primaries for Hudson County Freeholder. They are backing former Acting Hudson County Clerk Mary Jane Desmond, an ex-Bayonne City Councilwoman, against the Hudson County Democratic Organization incumbent Doreen McAndrew DiDomenico in District 1. Also running is David Longenhagen.
In District 4, the endorsement went to Jersey City police officer Sean Connors, who is challenging HCDO candidate Eliu Rivera, the incumbent.
Five-term Freeholder Maurice Fitzgibbons is not seeking re-election to his Hoboken-based District 5 seat. The Jersey Journal is backing community activist Ines García-Keim over two candidates with various political endorsements, Ines Garcia-Keim, Frank “Pupie” Raia, and Anthony Romano.
