Orthodox Jews protest Teaneck vote

Several Orthodox Jewish members of the Teaneck Democratic County Committee are complaining that they will not be able to vote in a contest for Municipal Chairman tonight because they are observing Shavuot, a Jewish holiday. The incumbent, Paul Cunningham, was defeated in his bid for re-election to his County Committee seat last Tuesday, and according to reports, has been unwilling to reschedule the meeting to accommodate 15 of the 41 Orthodox Jews on the County Committee.

Orthodox Jews are also complaining that the Bergen County Republican Organization voted 6-3 against a move to keep the polls open until 10:30 PM tomorrow.
