Now that we’re into the second day of the Democratic National Convention, it’s time for a poll of all that "celebrity power" that was supposed to follow Barack Obama to Denver.
While Paris Hilton has not shown up yet (much to the disappointment of John McCain supporters), here are some noteworthy names that attended events during the first day of the convention as put together by Associated Press, with a little additional research by the Daily Transom:
Danny Glover showed up at the Creative Coalition event wearing a Martin Luther King Jr. T-shirt under his blazer. Also in attendance for Creative Coalition events: actress Ellen Burstein, director Tony Goldwyn, Alan Cumming wearing a brown Obama shirt, Susan Sarandon in a vest and an Obama pin, and Anne Hathaway with new short hair. Plus: actors Tim Daly, Josh Lucas, Rachael Leigh Cook, Angela Basset, and Matthew Modine.
Kal Penn of Harold & Kumar films and House, worked as a volunteer usher on the floor of the convention in fluorescent vest.
Cyndi Lauper, who will perform at the Rock to Win concert today with Rufus Wainright and Melissa Etheridge, was spotted on the convention floor.
Director Spike Lee spent time in VIP section of the Pepsi Center between events.
The Fray and Pete Wentz’ band, Fall Out Boy, performed for convention guests, as did John Legend. (Mr. Wentz’s parents met while working for Joe Biden.)
In the next few days, Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Ben Affleck, Annette Bening, and Kanye West are also expected to arrive.
