The tagline for the 1982 movie was ambiguous: “Man is the warmest place to hide.” (And you thought it was Paraguay.)
There are no women in the cast. And the men, like the bearded Kurt Russell, live in a remote ice station at the bottom of the world and wield flamethrowers. So you can see why someone would choose to remake John Carpenter’s terrifically masculine horror film The Thing using nothing but G.I. Joes.
Thanks to the website JoBlo for bringing us this six-minute bit of stop-motion animation starring the Hasbro action figure. The clip is actually a music video for Zombie Zombie — “the electrifying French duo” (according to their MySpace page) — and it’s directed by Simon Gesrel and Xavier Ehretsmann. If you’ve never seen the Carpenter movie, fear not; just picture Alien on Ice. This new “Thing” may be the future, with tomorrow’s stars out there, right now, cheap, on eBay.
