Here’s some strategic language coming from progressives who oppose David Paterson’s request to cut state spending.
In a blog item posted just now on their web site, the Working Families Party calls it “Bush-enomics." The post is in response direct response to today’s column by Bill Hammond, who supports budget cuts.
While the line is directed at Hammond, it could just as easily be applied to Paterson. The W.F.P. wrote, “Bill, you may want to slash New York’s health care and education spending for ideological reasons, but most New Yorkers don’t want to use the economic downturn as an excuse for more Bush-enomics.”
In an interview with me yesterday, the co-chair of the W.F.P. Bob Master, made the Newt Gingrich analogy.
